About

Xin chào,

My name is Theresa Hạnh Như, but everyone calls me Tree! My primary interests and skill sets lie in narrative design, level design, and production with additional curiosity in UI/UX, VR, 3D modeling and technical art. When I'm not designing games, you can find me binge-watching Marvel and horror movies or making a triple stack of bread and nutella. It's nice to meet you!

I am a Viet-Chinese American game designer, born and raised in a small California town. Thanks to my late father, I discovered a love for games and became immersed in the experiences games could offer-- artistically, emotionally, and as a powerful medium for creativity and storytelling. Immediately after I graduated high school, I flew to Massachusetts to attain my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Game Design at Northeastern University.

Growing up as an Asian woman in a predominantly White community and low-income household with a single mother, I experienced challenges that have deeply shaped my perspective. As a result, my games are often inspired by Vietnamese culture, personal struggles, and mental health in one way or another, using the medium to convey uncomfortable but thought-provoking narratives.
